April 3, 2025 – The Nashville Stars welcomed friends, advisors, supporters and area baseball fans to their Opening Day party on a day when Major League Baseball hit a home run with its Opening Day viewership.
The television ratings on ESPN were the league’s best Opening Day audience for a full (non-COVID) season since 2018, with the Brewers-Yankees matchup averaging 1.93 million viewers and peaking at 2.23 million. The Tigers-Dodgers matchup in the second game of the doubleheader, even amid NCAA Tournament games on other networks, averaged 1.74 million viewers – a 10% increase from the second game of last year’s Opening Day doubleheader.
The strong performance on Opening Day builds on momentum from the mid-March Tokyo Series between the Cubs and Dodgers, which amassed 59% more viewers than the Seoul Series one year ago.
The Stars enjoyed celebrating the return of baseball with all our guests on Opening Day, and we thank our sponsors, friends and local favorite Daddy’s Dogs for making it special. We’re very excited to have baseball back, and we are looking forward to the day when Opening Day means opening the gates to welcome fans into our own stadium here in MusicCity. Go Stars!
