August 7, 2025 – “We need an MLB team in Tennessee, and I’m really hopeful that’s coming.”
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said that at a visit to Covenant Health Park for a recent Knoxville Smokies Baseball game. Joined by Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, and Knoxville Smokies owner, University of Tennessee, Knoxville President, and Nashville Stars Baseball Club Advisor Randy Boyd, Governor Lee made the case for Major League Baseball (MLB) in Tennessee.
“This is the future, and this is a very exciting development right here in this town. It’s a part of what’s to come in this state,” Gov. Lee said.
