MLB Expansion to Nashville Draws National Attention This Week

August 21, 2025 – The conversation of Major League Baseball expansion has been in the national spotlight this past week.

“I think the owners realize there is demand for Major League Baseball in a lot of great cities, and we have an opportunity to do something good around that expansion process,” Commissioner Rob Manfred said during the MLB Little League Classic on Sunday.

The next day, ESPN’s Jeff Passan took it one step further on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I think Nashville is almost a shoo-in to get an expansion team at this point,” Passan said.

As a result, many national articles support the idea of Nashville being a favorite for MLB expansion, especially after Bob Nightengale’s report in USA Today last month that “Major League Baseball believes the strongest two expansion markets remain Salt Lake City and Nashville.

We would not be in this position without the passion and dedication of our more than 100,000 fans. Every hat purchased, every post shared, and every story told have shown the baseball world the power of the Nashville Stars community.

But our work is not finished. We’ll keep building momentum and proving why Nashville is the right market. Plus, we’ll continue showing why the Stars is the right name to honor the past while carrying baseball’s future forward. Keep wearing the gear, spreading the word, and letting the world know that Nashville will be ready when expansion happens.
