September 18, 2025 – We had the privilege of visiting the Huntsville Rotary Club on September 9th to share updates on our effort to bring Major League Baseball (MLB) to Tennessee. Dr.Chris Bacon(left) spoke on behalf of the Nashville Stars Baseball Club, and he was introduced by Mark Russell, Executive Director of the Huntsville Sports Commission.
Huntsville is no stranger to professional baseball or the Stars name. From 1985 to 2014, the city proudly cheered for the Huntsville Stars, a Double-A affiliate that developed future Major League talent and created lasting memories for the community. Today, the Rocket City Trash Pandas carry on that tradition in nearby Madison, showing that baseball continues to thrive in North Alabama.
As one of the fastest-growing cities in the Southeast, Huntsville is also an important neighbor and partner market for Nashville. Located just a short drive down I-65, the city’s growth has been fueled by innovation, technology, and a strong sports culture.
Recent headlines highlight the President’s decision to relocate the U.S. Space Command’s headquarters and operations to Huntsville, a move that will bring even more investment, talent, and energy to the region. This momentum aligns closely with Nashville’s trajectory as a center for entertainment, tourism, and professional sports.
The Stars continue to build relationships throughout the region because the success of a Major League Baseball franchise in Nashville will extend beyond city limits. Communities like Huntsville are an important part of our future fan base and regional impact.
We’re grateful to the Huntsville Rotary Club for the warm welcome. Together, we are building a shared vision of growth, opportunity, and community through baseball.
